William trained with a medium sized firm in Guildford, Surrey, dealing with a wide range of small and medium sized businesses. After passing his professional examinations at the end of the 1970s he joined Arthur Young McClelland Moores & Co ( now Ernst & Young) to gain experience of a large firm environment. Working in the London and later Southampton offices he was in charge of audits ranging from a multinational oil company to a group of electronics companies involved with defence contracts.

A desire to live in the Cotswolds resulted in his moving to the North Cotswolds in 1983. Whilst working for a Cheltenham firm he decided to set up his own practice in Stow on the Wold to utilise his broadly based expertise, and so founded William Hinton Chartered Accountants in 1986.

Experience & specialisms:

Daimien started his training with a small firm of chartered accountants in Wiltshire dealing with a wide variety of small and medium sized businesses. He continued his training at a similar size firm in Cirencester and was promoted to senior accountant. During his training he benefited from a small firm environment by gaining experience in all aspects of accountancy and taxation.

After passing his professional examinations in 1994 Daimien was promoted to manager and became responsible for dealing with his own client portfolio and also heading up the audit department within the firm.

Looking for a new challenge, Daimien joined William Hinton in 1996 as a manager assisting with the development of the expanding practice. He became a partner in the practice in December 2001 and his current portfolio of clients includes several London based businesses, which sees him traveling to the Capital on a regular basis.

Experience & specialisms:

Ian qualified as an accountant in a well respected three partner firm based in London. Whilst training Ian gained a wealth of experience dealing with both small and medium sized businesses, gaining a valuable insight into how owner managed businesses operate. Working in a small firm Ian developed a good foundation in all areas of accountancy and taxation.

Ian qualified as an accountant in 2004 before moving to Cheltenham and shortly after joined the team at William Hinton Limited. Ian manages a broad range of clients, overseeing accounts preparation, planning audits, and preparing management accounts. Ian enjoys meeting with clients on a regular basis to discuss their business requirements, growth strategies and individual goals. Ian is keen to develop long lasting relationships with all clients and to provide a valued service.

Ian has a young family, and understands the importance of achieving the right balance between family and work. To relax, Ian enjoys socialising and supporting Gloucester rugby.

Position: Tax Manager

Gordon was born in Cheltenham and has lived in the locality ever since. After a brief spell working for the DHSS (now DSS), Gordon joined a medium sized accountancy firm in 1978. Initially based in the accounts preparation department, he gained valuable experience of small businesses needs and aspirations across a wide variety of trades and professions.

Gordon passed his Institute of Taxation examinations in 1992 and was promoted to Tax Manager dealing with all aspects of taxation for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, companies, non-residents and individuals with private income.

After 23 years with the same firm, Gordon joined William Hinton in 2001 as the Personal Tax Manager where his skills are ideally suited to dealing with small businesses and local people.

Mark gained his early experience training with a small accountancy practice in Chipping Campden whilst studying for his professional qualification. He has been with William Hinton since 1994 and initially specialised in company audits for the practice. Mark has a broad base of experience from small firm environments in which he has worked and is now the office manager in the practice with his own portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

In his spare time he has a passion for natural history. Mark enjoys country walks and likes to take in the occasional Cotswold pub on route!

Position: Senior Accountant

Experience & specialisms:

Barry has lived and grown up in the surrounding area and has strong ties within the local region. After finishing university Barry spent four years managing a retail specialism store, gaining invaluable experience into small business, before looking for a new challenge.

Barry joined William Hinton in 2004 as a trainee and is currently in the process of taking his final exams. He has gained a wealth of knowledge throughout his training in all aspects of accountancy, and looks forward to building upon this.

Barry is predominantly responsible for the preparation of accounts, but has a good general knowledge of all aspects, as well as dealing with the internal IT needs of the firm.

Position: Management Accounts/Payroll Manager

Qualifications:

Experience & specialisms:

Naomi joined William Hinton in November 1998 taking on the role of Office Junior. Shortly after joining Naomi showed an interest in other areas of the firm and through the support and training provided by the firm has been able to progress and achieve an AAT qualification.

Naomi is largely responsible for managing the payroll bureau which consists of a number of clients varying in their size and complexity. She is also responsible for the Practice accounts and preparing monthly management accounts for several clients taking into account the accounting software best suited to their individual needs.

Position: Accounts/VAT Senior

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Accounting Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute

Experience & specialisms:

Tracey joined the company in 2008 with previous experience in Insurance accounts and Retail accounts departments. She is involved in all elements of the accounts preparation for clients and is also responsible for the VAT Return bureau run by the firm.

Position: Trainee Accountant

Qualifications: BA (Hons) Accounting and Financial Management

Experience & specialisms:

Gordon studied at the University of Gloucestershire and gained a degree in Accounting and Financial Management with Business Information Technology.

Gordon joined William Hinton in 2009 as trainee accountant, having previously worked for another firm in Cheltenham. He is currently in the process of taking his final exams, which all being well should be completed in June 2011.

His responsibilities include the preparation of accounts and company secretarial duties.

Position: Secretary

Experience & specialisms:

Jackie joined William Hinton Ltd in June 1996 as secretary to William himself. Before that she spent most of her working life as a secretary/PA at director level.

Jackie now heads a small but very efficient team who take care of the clerical and administrative side of the business.

She supports her team and makes sure the office runs as smoothly as possible and ensures the team never run out of supplies!

Experience & specialisms:

Originally from South Wales, Eirlys has made Cheltenham her home for the last 5 years.

Whilst completing her AAT studies in 2008, Eirlys realised her interest in taxation and went on to gain the ATT qualification. She is currently studying to become a Chartered Tax Advisor.

Eirlys joined the tax team in November 2011 where she helps look after the firms tax returns.

Eirlys is a keen sportswoman and regularly takes part in early morning boot camp sessions and running.

Position: Trainee Accountant

Qualifications:

Experience & specialisms:

Stephanie graduated from the University of the West of England with a First Class Honours degree in Business Studies with Economics in July 2012.

After carrying out three months work experience with William Hinton Chartered Accountants in the summer of 2011, Stephanie joined the firm as a trainee in July 2012. She is now studying locally at Reed Business School towards ICAEW Chartership.

Her responsibilities primarily include preparation of accounts and she also assists with VAT returns and payroll.

Stephanie has lived and grown up in the local area and looks forward to working with local businesses. In Stephanie’s spare time she enjoys socialising with her family and friends.
